Ankiel Signs For A Year

Rick_ankielThe Rick Ankiel Saga continued Wednesday, with the Cardinals signing him to a one year minor league deal, with an invitation to spring training.  He missed the entire season in 2006 when he hurt his knee in spring training.  In 2005 he hit .259, 21 HR’s, 75 RBI’s between A and AA ball.  Retiring as a pitcher on March 9, 2005 was his first full year as an outfielder.  I would like to see him make it one day.  He has battled back from anxiety problems to become a respectable minor league outfielder.  We will have to stay tuned to see where he goes next.  My prediction is that he will start the year in Springfield and possibly be promoted to Memphis early in the season.  I sure do miss watching that absolutely nasty curve and breaking ball he had, he was one **** of a pitcher.
So there you have it.  Agree?  Disagree?  Let me hear from you out there….

I personally can’t see how Rick Ankiel can’t pitch. It’s stupid. Send him to a shrink, I don’t care…the guy was a *******’ stud, yet La Russa threw him into the fire too quick and he blew up. This guy could have ended up an all-time great, yet now he can’t even throw a pitch to the catcher. Just another weird story in the world…but why can’t Duncan fix it? Never made sense to me. Something isn’t right there.
